The Cultivars

Two varieties, international standard

Nakheel is built around the two date varieties with the strongest global demand: Medjool and Barhi. Single-terroir focus, single-standard quality.

Medjool

المجدول

Soft · mahogany · large caliber

The 'King of Dates'. Cultivated under precision drip in the New Valley sand, with target fruit weight above 22 g for European premium gift markets.

Barhi

البرحي

Soft · golden-amber · crisp khalal

Eaten fresh at the yellow khalal stage or cured to honey-sweet rutab. Highly prized across Gulf markets — and a signature of Era Agri's orchards.

Harvest Calendar

From flower to fruit

Four stages of cultivation — overseen by our agronomists in Sahl Albaraka with sensor-grade precision and inherited Egyptian craft.

  1. Stage 01

    Talqeeh · Pollination

Late February to March. Male inflorescences are hand-tied into female spathes — a centuries-old Egyptian craft, now scheduled by sensor.

  2. Stage 02

    Tashteeb · Thinning

April. Bunches are trimmed to 50–70 fruits per strand to drive size and uniform sugar accumulation.

  3. Stage 03

    Kimri & Khalal

May to August. Fruit hardens green then turns golden — Brix and moisture tracked weekly per tree across the orchard.

  4. Stage 04

    Rutab & Tamr

September to October. Soft, honey-sweet fruit harvested at ~24% moisture, sun-cured on raised nets, then graded for export.
